KORRY

The person that invented sunshades should have been given the Nobel Prize for spying. After the interior designer had gone, I sat on the veranda watching Blaire using an electric sander to buff down the oak paneling on the walls.

Wearing sunshades had given me uninterrupted observations of her using the small power tool. I should have felt bad perving on her wiggling her plump little ass in a pair of tight-fitted shorts, to the sound of “Brown Eyed Girl” by Van Morrison, but I didn’t.

It was a feel-good song, and my cock felt anything but good as I grew harder the more I saw of her gorgeous, silky, tanned midriff in the little tie-off shirt she wore. Where her whole outfit was for comfort, it was a cock tease for me. I’d have bet money that this hadn’t been Blaire’s intention when she’d pulled her attire on to work in. I had been patting myself on the back for having Bernadette arrange for some decorating tools and supplies that Blaire had put on her list last night before she went to bed.

That was, until I’d seen her wield that little sander in her hand. The woman I thought my heart wanted was getting down and dirty, polishing wood of a different kind with a vibrating tool and I was in agony watching.

Who knew watching someone doing something so domesticated could be a turn-on. In any other circumstances, with any other woman, I would have made my move by now, but this was Blaire, and she was pregnant.

I let out a sigh because her life was a mess, and there was now a barrier between us. We were still friends, but our relationship felt different now.

Who knew what the future would bring, but if anything were to ever happen between us, Blaire would need to prove to me beyond any doubt, that it would be because she couldn’t resist me—not because I could take care of her.

As strange as it may seem, I had offered her a place to stay and some stability without strings because I wanted to protect her from all her hurt.

“You’re going to get sunburned sitting out there,” Blaire said, drawing my attention from her ass to her face. I was thankful again for the sunshades I wore because otherwise I’d have been busted. “Do you want something to drink?”

“I’ll get it. What do you want?” I asked, standing and entering the open plan living room and kitchen.

“Water for me,” she mumbled, wiping perspiration from her forehead with the back of her hand.

I grabbed a clean dishcloth and ran it under the cold faucet, snagged a bottle of water from the fridge and handed them both to her. “This will cool you down,” I said, handing her the cloth first. She wiped it over her face, the back of her neck and then down the front of her cleavage.

“That was hot,” I said instantly without thinking.
